Farm Happenings forthe week of September 28, 2021

Posted on September 22nd, 2021 by Jessica Foote

Hello All,

I can't believe it but we only have 4 more weeks of the summer season left! I will be making it around to all the drop offs in the next two weeks! Hoping to meet everyone at least once and get feedback! Our helpers have been amazing and we could not have done it without them, my Aunts, dad, and friends. I normally do a lot more deliveries but with change of staff and new people on board that needed training home was my greater calling!

Feedback!

Please always let us know if you have problems with any produce! A couple people told me that beans had gone brown and rusty, and I would not have known if someone hadn't spoke up that rust was setting in. Mine were still lovely in the fridge. Things don't always show up until they experience the temperature abuse, and washing, can actually start the ball rolling on rust, or fungus development.

A heads up, our sweet potatoes have a lot more grub damage then in the past if I had to cull all the ones we have had to share with the bugs we wouldn't have a crop! Sharing is caring and that is the choice we make when growing organically with minimum to no inputs. This year we have only treated one baby seedling planting of bok choi and broccoli before putting row cover on. I am proud of how we have let nature take it's course and how the work on feeding the soil has reduced pests and increased the disease resistance in the garden.

Turkey Talk!

We have turkeys available for Thanksgiving, and Christmas please text 905-986-9612 to place an order! They are in the 15 to 20lbs range!

Halloween Pumpkins!

Our fellow farmer Kevin had fun growing extra large pumpkins this year! I have listed 15 of them as extras in Harvie for sale! 20$ each they are 30 to 40lbs no small feat! What we do for entertainment! Grow the weird and wonderful...

BULK ORDERS

A few people have inquired about bushels of tomatoes! They are 1.5o$/lbs a bushel is 40lbs

Auto Renew

Auto Renew will run for the Summer CSA 2022 in the middle of October (final date to be announced), if you do not wish to auto renew please turn of the auto renew setting in your personal profile. The auto renew will guarantee/automatically give you the early bird discount of 25$.

Winter CSA Sign Up!

The Winter CSA sign up is now open! If you are in Lindsay and are interested and the lack of drop off is a deterrent let me know as I have a potential lead for a drop off Saturday evenings if there is enough interest!

The PTBO drop off is to be determined! Got to finalize staffing and vehicle availability.
