Week 20 - Final week of the 2023 CSA

What another unseasonably amazing week on the farm. I feel truly blessed to still be rocking the kilt with just a sun shirt in late October, although there are some concerns about what this year's winter weather might bring. One significant lesson from this year is that while you can plan for the weather, you must also be ready to adapt to the reality of what you have to work with in the moment.

We've been putting in hard work and working up a good sweat to clear the fall crops from the field. Additionally, we've reached a major milestone in our clean-up process; all the plastic mulch has been removed from our fields in Niwot. This marks a significant step forward in our clean-up efforts. This week, we'll be tackling the fields in Gunbarrel. Even though the CSA season may end this week, there are still a few more weeks of fall farm work ahead. My goal is to wrap up the final tasks by mid-November. Afterward, I plan to take a well-deserved break at the incredible Orvis Hot Springs in Ridgeway. It's going to take a lot of soaking and rest to ease the strain of this season.

I'm deeply honored to have had the opportunity to provide you and the community with fresh produce this season. Despite the numerous challenges we've faced, I'm proud of what we've accomplished. Your kind words of appreciation have meant the world to my staff and me.

With heartfelt gratitude,

The Farmers at Kilt Farm
