Sunny Jim

Posted on October 10th, 2021 by John Eisenstein

"Sunny Jim", of course, refers to the nickname of the 19th Century U.S. politician James Sherman, longtime U.S. representative from the state of New York, speaker of the House of Representatives, and 27th vice president of the United States   (serving under Taft).  Now that the nights are longer I have more time to read, and what better way to fill the hours than with biographies of all the vice presidents of this great land?  The U.S. Senate website, of all places, has very good, 10 page bios of each V.P.    Were he alive today, I'm sure he would enjoy eating tat soi, that lovely green vegetable pictured above.  Cook as you would spinach.  It's mild yet flavorful nature is a real favorite with us this time of year.

Also we started harvesting carrots, which look really nice, and napa cabbage, which grew really large.  don't be intimidated by the gigantic heads-- it keeps a long time and you don't have to eat it all at once.

For some of you, this is the last delivery of the season.  For most of you, it will be next week.  It was a very difficult year for me and I'll be glad of the rest.  We may offer a few a la carte "farmstand" deliveries in November, but probably not every week.  I'll let you know if we do.
