Farm Happenings for October 18, 2023

Posted on October 15th, 2023 by Mark Kastner
I usually plant 3 successions of full sized Tomatoes, and normally the last planting doesn't materialize because of weather and diminished daylight.. We  were very busy last July and I decided not to do the third crop of transplants. Our summer intern, Jessie, decided otherwise and took it upon herself to get the whole bed into the ground, pruned and trellised, and growing strong.

It is now mid October.  Jessie is back in school looking to graduate this December, and we still have Tomatoes! I have been notified that our Organic Seed Garlic is on the way and I'm still dealing with tomatoes; what a big 'ole mess!

This weekI am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon and the Allen Street Farmers Market after that, 3:00-6:00. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up and scheduled home delivery. Saturday I am at the parking lot behind Flour Child Bakery in Grand Ledge, 11:00 AM-12:00 noon. I hope to see you soon!
