Farm Happenings for February 15, 2023

Posted on February 12th, 2023 by Mark Kastner
The 2023 growing season has begun! By the end of this week #7, The main Tomato and Pepper Crops will be planted, the early Tomatoes will be potted up, the "Shoulder Compliments" like Carrots, Radishes, Beets, Hakurei Salad Turnips, and Kohlrabi will be in, and we'll be headed into week #8 to wrap the pre-Spring seeding. I also have the late winter greens, Spinach, and various lettuce nearly ready for harvest!

The first full week in March, week #10, we begin seeding for Home Gardener Transplants. If you have a special request please let me know soon. We are experiencing some seed shortages and back orders already, so don't be caught left out! Note: all of our Legume plants like Beans and Peas, will be inoculated with organically approved organisms unless excluded by specific request.

This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon and the Allen Street Indoor Farmers Market after that, 3:00-6:00. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up and pre-arranged home delivery, and Saturday  I am in the parking lot behind Flour Child Bakery in Grand Ledge, 11:00-12:00 noon. I hope to see you soon!
