Farm Happenings for November 30, 2022

Posted on November 27th, 2022 by Mark Kastner
What a perfect rainy day to go through the catalogues and develop the seed orders and planting schedule sequences!  If you have any special requests for 2023, December is the time to ask. At customer request, I researched and am adding Honey Nut Squash, a smaller, but much sweeter butternut, and I have added more flower varieties per my wife Gayleen and Maggie, our beekeeper.

CSA signup  for Winter begins December 1, this week. I am opening a few more shares for our "Harvie" managed  inventory customers and scaling back on the random pre orders. Auto Renew begins January 3.Time has proven that I can produce more quality and quantity with a more predictable harvest list. At the same time, I am considering an ELFCO (East Lansing Food Co-op) for winter and spring greens production, not a decision easily made. The Allen Street Indoor Farmers Market Is going well, and I value my consistent year around customer community!

This week I  am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, and the Allen Street Market after that, 3:00-6:00. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up,and Saturday I am at the parking lot behind Flour Child Bakery in Grand Ledge, 11:00-12:00 noon. I hope to see you soon!
