Farm Happenings for September 28, 2022

Posted on September 25th, 2022 by Mark Kastner
Autumn has arrived and so has the Fall Weather! The changes will be reflected in our menus. We may still offer some Tomatoes and Cucumbers, but I cannot rely on availability. Instead we'll offer Winter Squash, Potatoes, members of the Onion Family, and Cabbages. I will enjoy a meal of Comfort Food for dinner tonight!
I have a food safety audit this week so the product changes will be slowed a bit. We are also doing Winter transplants through the second week in October. We'll also sow Carrots and hope there is time to plant Garlic before the November weather comes sweeping in!
The Grand Ledge Farmers  Market is finished. I will deliver CSA distribution shares and preorders for fresh produce to the parking lot behind Flour Child Bakery in Grand Ledge, this Saturday morning from 11:00-12:00 noon.I'll talk about the Grand Ledge Fall Festival on Saturday, October 8, in next week's email. This Wednesday I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids at 12:00 noon, and the  Allen Street Farmers Market after that, 2:30-6:30. Farm pick up is still Thursday Afternoon. I hope to see you soon!
