Farm Happenings for September 21, 2022

Posted on September 18th, 2022 by Mark Kastner
While we enjoy the last of the Sweet Corn and the beginning of the good baking Apple season, I keep looking over my shoulder in anticipation of the first hard frost! I'm not afraid of frost, it just alters our schedule, and changes our harvest practices by 180 degrees.  We will do most picking in the afternoon instead of morning, and do the transplanting in the morning instead of afternoon! Although the Cucumbers have been very nice lately, it doesn't take frost to bring about their demise; Cukes just don't like cold nights!

Saturday is the last Farmers Market in Grand Ledge. I'll update you next week. I make deliveries in the parking lot behind Flour Child Bakery from 11:00 AM until 12:00 noon.The Color Cruise in Grand Ledge is October 8, and I will be back on River Street for that, and then back to Flour Child. I will update you weekly!

This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon and the Allen Street Farmers Market after that, 2:30-6:30. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up, and Saturday we are in Grand Ledge for the last Farmers Market of the season, 9:00-1:00. I hope to see you soon!
