Farm Happenings for July 20, 2022

Posted on July 17th, 2022 by Mark Kastner
Our seeds and supplies orders should arrive in the next day or so, and we'll start seeding flats for the cool weather crops like fall Broccoli, Asian Greens Salad Mix, and about 10,000 seeds for Spinach! The new starts should be ready for transplanting about the second week in August when the night time temperature begin to cool. Meanwhile we are still working on Summer production, and we have some late  Ginger and Turmeric to go into the ground.

The late Baby Lettuce Salad Mix is almost ready for harvest, after the earlier beds turned bitter in the late Spring heat. I also increased Romaine starts to 70/ week some time ago, and we should start to enjoy the results next month. Maybe we are under priced, but we keep selling out every market, and I hope to remedy that soon.

This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, and the Allen Street Farmers Market after that, 2:30-6:30. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up, and Saturday we are in Grand Ledge for the Market on the Grand, 9:00-1:00. I hopr to see you soon!
