Farm Happenings for September 30, 2020

Posted on September 27th, 2020 by Mark Kastner

Hello!!

As we approach our winter CSA season that begins November 1, a couple things come to mind. First, I am very grateful for the increase in business activity, thank you. Next, when you talk about CSA activity in the winter, careful planning and experience is crucial.

Inherent in CSA Membership is the understanding that the Member shares risk with the Farmer, as farming and especially growing in the winter has its  challenges. It's Your money and my responsibility, and I will talk about populating our shares soon. To meet the needs of our Members we have purchased the materials and begun building protected growing space that will increase our cold weather capacity by over 25%! Even not counting the overwintered crops in low tunnels, 25% is a lot of increase and the nursery is jammed full!

This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on  Wednesday, and the Allen Street Farmers Market after that. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up, and Saturday we are in Grand Ledge for the Market on the Grand. Please see the attached menu and let me know if I can help. I Hope to see you soon!

Thank you,
