Farm Happenings for November 7, 2019

Posted on November 3rd, 2019 by Brendan Prewitt

Hope everyone's surviving the time change - just yet another reminder that winter is coming!

Looks like we've got a cold couple of weeks coming, which means we're pretty busy around here getting ready for it. We finished getting the last of the crops out of the fields today, so now we've just got to keep the hoophouse crops healthy through the cold. Most of the crops we have in the hoophouses can handle some cold, but 20 degrees is pushing it, especially considering it's going to be multiple days.

We're slowly wrapping up our projects around here - we're down to installing heat in our processing room and replacing the poly on the hoophouse, along with the usual clean-up work. The heat won't be too bad, but replacing the poly doesn't look too exciting given the upcoming forecast. Pretty sure winter won't wait for us though, so we'll be tackling it as we get time.

We'll leave it pretty short this week - we've got a few more projects on the to-do list for the day today before it gets too dark!

Have a good one!
