Farm Happenings for August 8 & 9, 2019

Posted on August 4th, 2019 by Brendan Prewitt

Hi everyone!

It's been a long afternoon of garlic harvesting (all 5,000 bulbs, for anyone wondering), so we'll keep the farm happening short today!

Things are moving along, as I'm sure most of you noticed with the increased offerings. We're still hoping to see some popular ones like tomatoes increase in production a bit - unfortunately the past two weeks have been cool for a couple days at the start of the week which slowed down production for the week. This week looks the opposite, warm early then cooler, so we're hoping to see a benefit - as I'm sure most of you are as well!

We're still having downy mildew issues in the greenhouse, so microgreens are still on hold for a bit until we get it resolved - getting a disease out of a humid, confined space like a greenhouse isn't the easiest task. We know they're a favorite to some of you so we figured we'd mention it.

Aside from that, things are moving along as usual, though harvesting takes a bit more time this time of year, but we're doing a lot less planting as well, so it all tends to balance out!

I'll wrap this up here so we can get your tentative boxes out to you and let the swapping begin. Hopefully we'll have some time to make it a little more interesting next week!
