Farm Happenings for June 8, 2021

Posted on June 5th, 2021 by Brad Gritt

Good Morning Farm Family,

Things around the farm are seeing a change of the seasons from spring to summer with more produce coming in and less flowers. We are prepping flowers already for spring of 2022 with some tropical plants we will grow through the winter, next years crop of ferns coming in soon and mums for the fall being planted this coming week.

The fields at Leon are getting full with multiple plantings of corn, tomatoes, melons, beans and more that will carry us through the summer months.

With national donut day being this past Friday, it inspired us to offer donuts in this coming weeks shares. We will have them available in a half dozen for shares this week.

The cut flower field we plan to open later this summer is coming along. We always do sunflowers but added an area with zinnias, marigolds, cosmos, and a few other flowers. This is a trial run for us on this so we will see how it goes and make adjustments for the coming years. We think it will be a fun little summer activity and plan to add a picnic experience to it as well. Stay tuned for details.

On a more not so exciting note, my dog Niko was hit by a car at the farm on Wednesday so I apologize if I haven't responded to your emails or messages in a timely manner this week. He had surgery yesterday and has a long road to recovery but things look promising that his front leg will be saved. I'm in the office today so I will reach out to anyone who I haven't gotten back to yet.

As always reach out and let us know if you need anything. Have a great week.
