Farm Happenings for June 1, 2021

Posted on May 29th, 2021 by Brad Gritt

Good Afternoon Farm Family,

While its a bummer that the cooler weather came during a holiday weekend, its kinda nice to get a little cool down after that stretch of blazing weather. The hot and dry weather was however very nice for the strawberry crop and we are hoping it hangs on for a couple more weeks. We are already planning for next years crop and are tripling the number of berry plants. We planted around 10,000 this year and are bumping up to 30,000 for the 2022 season so we are hoping to have even more berries next year. Additionally, we plan to offer a u-pick option on berries next year as well which will be a first for us.

For this weeks shares, we are going to see quite a few new options. We will begin pulling carrots, kohlrabi, and broccoli this week. I love the evolution of the csa season from spring toward summer as we begin to harvest more and more options.

I hope everyone enjoys some time off over the holiday weekend and gets to enjoy some cookouts and time with family.

As always if you ever need anything feel free to reach out.
