Farm Happenings for June 15, 2021

Posted on June 12th, 2021 by Brad Gritt

Good Afternoon Farm Family,

While the rain we got the last few days made mowing grass tough and the rivers muddy, it was certainly much needed in the crop world. We had gotten pretty dry so we aren't complaining. The combination of the rain and the heat following it will certainly help along all the crops as we inch closer to summer produce.

This week we are beginning to pick squash and zucchini so you will see that available in shares this week. Strawberry season has sadly come to an end but it was a success in our book. We picked more berries this year on a smaller number of plants. We have been growing berries for a few years now but felt like we just weren't doing it exactly right so we decided to reduce the number of plants and try and work out the kinks. We feel pretty good about what we learned this year, so naturally we are tripling the number of plants for next year so lots more berries will be available and hopefully for a longer season as we are planting some later varieties as well.

I hope everyone has a great week and as always let me know if you need anything.
