Join us for our 2022 Vegetable Boxes and Flower Bouquets!

Posted on February 14th, 2022 by Ross Ferkett

The summer of 2022 will be our 10th season growing vegetables here in Waupaca. Although the warm weather seems far away, the seeds have been ordered, and the plans are underway. Farming is not easy, but after 10 years, we have more confidence than ever. There are fewer decisions to be made because we know what we like to grow, and what our customers love to eat.

We are looking for an employee to round out our crew, and would welcome a few more work-shares if you know anyone interested. Our workers start at 8am, and go until noon. Please contact us if you are interested in spending the summer outdoors growing fresh food and flowers. Volunteers are welcome and we can arrange jobs depending on your interest and skill level. We are particularly looking for someone who is able to help us wash our storage bins each week. This job is out of the hot sun, has few insect pests, and can be fun with two people.

We are a little behind on launching this sign up page, as we have been spending time focusing on our family. Our children, ages 12, 14, and 17 have grown up on the farm and are gearing up for a summer of fun and farming together. Time moves fast when you aren't looking. Leila is our oldest and she is going to be heading out on a year long student exchange starting in August. Thank you to everyone who has supported her desire to travel and see the world. All of your support at the farm market will be put towards her trip. (The photo for this post is of a day spent at a train museum in Green Bay that first summer we farmed.)

The sheep are hanging out in the pastures at the house, doing what they do best, eating hay. Soon we will be welcoming lambs at the end of March. Stay tuned for more opportunities to order our lamb products in the very near future.

This winter has been cold, with hardly a day above freezing since the new year. The snow cover, though not very deep insulates the plants and soil from those negative temperatures. We hope there is more precipitation coming in the near future, because this winter has been on the dry side. The nice thing is, when it is cold like this we cook and bake to our hearts content!

We hope you are all well and able to enjoy the winter like our family does.

P.S. When possible, your payment in-full is appreciated when you sign up. This early cash flow is essential to getting the season off to a strong start. We understand that isn't possible for everyone, so please choose the payment schedule that works best for you.
