Farm Happenings for October 3, 2018

FARM NEWS: The heat waves and terrible humidity of mid August have now caught up with the field, dooming the remaining tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, and unhappy broccoli and cauliflower, unfortuntely. Cooler temps mean that lettuce is back, with hopefully more on the way. 

We are enjoying hosting members on the farm! Thanks to those of you who came out to enjoy our weekend festivals. Pumpkin Fest continues every weekend through Oct!

EGG SHARE: back to 1 dozen eggs this week.

Thanks to everyone for their patience with the chickens! We are getting extra solar-powered lights set up on the coops this week, to extend the days and get them to lay better. Not an easy job!

Garden of Eve Organic Farm
Garden of Eve farm, founded in 2001 by environmental advocates Chris and Eve Kaplan-Walbrecht, is dedicated to providing delicious organic vegetables, fruits and beautiful flowers and to “making changes in the world by living them.”
Garden of Eve’s organic vegetables and flowers are available from their Organic Farm Marketand Garden Center at 4558 Sound Avenue in Riverhead, farmers markets on Long Island and in Brooklyn, and through Community Supported Agriculture shares on Long Island, Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan.
Garden of Eve Farm is located on the East End of Long Island, where the North Fork wine country begins in Riverhead NY, about 80 miles from New York City.
