Farm Happenings for September 2, 2019

Posted on August 30th, 2019 by Sarah Rider

In your share this week...

Lettuce is back! The lettuce is looking great with cooler temps, and it has been long-awaited. Curly kale is on its way back too, as the next planting is ready to pick! If you have these rated high on your preferences, you'll see these in your share this week or next.

Peppers have slowed down as the weather cooled off this past week. They'll be back before the season's over. You'll see a few cooler weather crops start to pop up in the shares very soon!

**Reminder for Mt. Cuba Center Members**

Beginning this Friday 9/6, pick up hours will be from 2 to 4 pm for the remainder of the season.

It's a Meat Add-On Week!

This week you have the chance to add on Flying Plow chicken or beef items to your share for pick up with your vegetables. Our chicken is Certified Organic and pasture-raised, and our beef is 100% grass-fed, raised by us.

We'll be sending the meat (all frozen!) in thermal reusable bags labeled with your name. The location of the meat (in a freezer or in a cooler with ice packs) will vary depending on where you're picking up your share.  Very importantPlease look at your label carefully for instructions on where your meat will be when you pick up. You're welcome to take the meat home in the thermal bag and bring it back the following week, or transfer your items and leave the bag at the pick up site.
