What’s in the Box?

The head lettuce is so gorgeous and crisp, the sweet onions are divine, and the carrots are out of this world.

It looks like the canteloupe will ripen in the next few days but I'm not quite confident enough to add them to the list at the moment.  My hope is that it'll be more clear on Monday morning and I can adjust and send you all an email to let you know.

Our greenhouse cucumbers finally succumbed to spider mites.  Our final outdoor planting is just barely starting, so this will be a week without cucumbers, but we should be back on track very soon.

On the Farm

We planted broccolini, the last of our fall brassicas, and started what sometimes feels like the neverending task of hoeing the storage crops.  The carrots are wee feathery things but we squint to make out the rows and pull our favorite culinear hoes through the crust of the soil.  If we can stay on top of the weeds at this stage we'll save ourselves dozens of hours over the next few months.

We seeded 1,800 lettuces in the greenhouse this week, and will seed over 5,000 next week, all destined for your winter plates.  If you haven't signed up for your winter share yet, now is the time!

That's all for now, happy eating until next time.
