Lettuce Rejoice! Oct 27, 2022 - Muddy Hands, Glorious Veggies

Hello Veggie Lovers!

Welcome to Week 3 of the Winter Share!

What’s in the Box?
Arugula may not be with us much longer. It is hard to say for certain, I did plant some in the hoophouse, but perhaps too late and the great outdoors are becoming highly unpleasant for so tender a green.

I highly suggest gorging on this spicy, nutty, little beauty for the next few weeks. Pair it with roasted beets, goat cheese and toasted walnuts for my very favorite salad. Make a good balsamic vinegarette and you’ll be in heaven.

On the Farm
Can you believe that I, a farmer, and going to tell you about how it won’t stop raining? I know, it’s boring, but guys, the mud is eating my boots.

I’m am so sick of the mud. I want to shut down the farm until it stops but unfortunetly, snow is coming at some point far too soon and I need to get the vegetables out of the field, and the farm put to bed for winter.

So we trudge through the mud and my amazing crew, these incredible women I work with, they don’t even complain. They just keep going.

One other silver lining: when the weather is gloomy, the vegetables look even more beautiful. I keep stoping in my tracks to stare at a head of cauliflower, or the bold colored stems of rainbow chard. Sometimes I stop because I’m stuck in the mud, but more often it's the glory of all these vegetables.

That’s all for now, happy eating until next time,
Farmer Tamara
