So many delicious things are coming ready: beans by the bushel, new potatoes, slicing tomatoes and more!
On the farm:
Here is a moment of honesty: August is the month where burnout usually peaks on the farm. We call it Slog-ust. We’ve been pushing hard for months, and now it is time for a second spring, the time to put in massive plantings of fall and winter crops.
And the rain keeps missing us, the baby is sick, and everyone needs time off.
It happens every year, when the food is at it’s peak, the farmers are overwhelmed and run down. But every year we make it through, we even make it to the beach a time or two. And we get the glory of tomato on toast with basil.
We’ll survive, the farm will thrive, and September is coming.
