Fall Thunderstorms and Squash!

Posted on September 16th, 2021 by Angela Bedient

Hi everyone and thank you all for signing up for the fall shares and/or purchasing our extra bounty this month!

If you know anyone on the fence or you are, the boxes continue to hold a great variety of items each week and Tim, Marie, Joe and Marla are all working hard to make sure it stays that way throughout the Fall Share season.

WHAT'S AVAILABLE!? New items do include a bunch of squash, as you'd imagine for fall! Delicate (striped thin skin that you can eat!) Butternut, Spaghetti and Acorn!  And Cauliflower is here and Swiss chard is back! By next week we should have Greens Mix Lettuce again and right now the spinach is doing well!  Corn is pretty much done for the season but we will have "organically grown" no spray, not certified from another family farm if you'd still like some for freezing!  100 ears for $30 please give us some notice if you'd like to order for Wednesdays or Saturdays!

We are getting some heat this week again, and plenty of rain with these Thunderstorms! I have always heard "thunder in fall no winter at all!" but it's not officially fall yet so I guess it's a little early to predict :)

If anyone has any questions about product, the Harvie platform, deliveries and pickups DO NOT hesitate to call, email or text Angela!  We really want to see these amazing foods in the hands of those seeking them and will accommodate where we can!  Thanks so much for supporting small, local, regenerative family farming in the Finger Lakes!

Marie has been sneaking in some recipes to help you use some of the abundant items like potatoes!  She says her kids love the potato patties and she is putting in a cheesey potato recipe this week.

Tomatoes Slices THICK

Slice these amazing, juicy heirlooms or slicers, slather with your favorite mayo and sprinkle with cheese!  Add some crumbled bacon, some parsley, basil and oregano,.  Broil in the oven until the cheese melts! YUM!
