[CSA Update] Welcome to week 10

Posted on July 17th, 2020 by Ida DeFrancesco

Locally grown means I know the hands that put the seeds into the soil, and I know who cut the leaves, bunched it, and packed it into a crate. We have a lot of fun growing food. It feels good at the end of the day, putting together a meal filled with veggies and fruits picked just as they are ripe. The berries pop. The green bite. The cucumbers crunch.
It takes a lot of hands to care for the fields. As the farmer, I am in the fields planting along with the farm team for months at a time in all weather. I also harvest and wash the crops to prepare them to go to the farm stand or go to market. The farm stand team are there every day cleaning, packing, and displaying all the crops. The CSA team jumps into planning the following week before they are done building the current week shares. We are passionate about locally grown - ask us why it matters and each of us light up. As a CSA member we hope you are starting to shine about the "why" too.
