What's Happening - September 7th & 9th

Posted on September 1st, 2021 by Ashley Robertson

Greetings Farm Fans -

Today is my first day as the Agriculture advisor through the Nevada Small Business Development Center!  This job will allow me to help ag producers in Nevada with all of their logistical business needs!  Hopefully, this also means that I will be "growing" new farmers to support our farm share program!  In other news, the Fallon Cantaloupe Festival and Country Fair was a great success!  I hope that some of you made it down to visit our quirky and charming little festival!

*** Evacuation Guidance ***

If you and your family are anticipating being (or have already been) evacuated, please shoot me a quick text or email and I will make sure that your box is put on hold!  The last thing we want you to worry about during these stressful times is what to do with your produce.  Additionally, Churchill County just announced that they have opened 20 acres for RV and trailer camping for evacuees of the Caldor Fire-let me know if you would like more information.

*** Fruit Breads of the Week ***

It is laughable to identify these as either "fruit" or "bread" since this is CHOCOLATE WEEK!  Breads this week include Chocolate Raspberry, Triple Chocolate, and Chocolate Nut

*** Coffee of the Week ***

Our coffee this week is a BRAND NEW signature blend.  Farm House French is a blend of Columbia Medellin, Mexican Organic, and Ethiopia Gora Kone.  While it might sound like a complicated blend, the flavors are pretty straightforward!  This coffee is perfect for those of you who rise with the rooster's crow!  It has a medium mouthfeel, a bright acidity, and a well-balanced flavor profile including some dusty cocoa notes, alongside vanilla, dark chocolate, and bergamot.  The finish is bright with blood orange citrus notes.

*** Produce Update ***

Winter squash is in full effect!  We have over 10 types of winter squash listed this week!  Additionally, the Boggeri's fruit is available this week with Red Grapes, Black Grapes, Green Grapes, Pluots, and Yellow Freestone Peaches.

Thank you for your support of Nevada Farmers!
