Farm Happenings for May 10, 2024

Posted on May 6th, 2024 by Mike Nolan

Good Morning Everyone,

Sorry for the late setup, yesterday was a little crazy. I was out the door at 5am to get my kiddo and her mom to Dulles so they can compete in an international wind turbine competition in Minneapolis.  She has been competing for 4 years now and this is the second time she has made it to the national (now international) level. Such a great opportunity to learn about an evolving technology that positively affects the way we live.  And she and her teammate are off to a good start, their turbine out performed the team from Kansas.  Kansas is typically a powerhouse at these events.

Back at the farm we have had a lot of rain, a regional occurrence this year, so we are busy in the greenhouses, planting tomatoes, moving seedlings into larger cells, getting the mums moved in the flower house etc..

Cliantro and dill are back this week, as well as parsley. I am also going to put some watercress samples in every box so you can try out if you haven't already.

And big news is that cheese is back!

I picked up Gouda and Tomme wedges from my friend Jurgen at the Mt Pleasant Farmers Market on Saturday.

www.springgapmtn.com but I'm unable to open their website right now.

This cheese is amazing.
