Hello Members!

We are excited to start off the CSA season with you and look forward to crossing paths over the course of the growing season. This spring has been kind to us and with the help of our new Vegetable Production Manager, Will Nelson our greenhouses are packed to the gills!

Weekly “Happenings” emails will always include updates from the farm and announcements along with recipes that we hope will aid you in making full use of vegetables harvested at the Dickinson College Farm.

This week we welcomed the bulk of our summer student and apprentice crew. We are grateful for the young and passionate individuals who have signed on to work, learn, and thrive alongside us here at the College Farm. We have a great team taking shape and I am sure that you will have the chance to interact with them during your pick-up, at farm events, and even farmers’ market.

As a Friday CSA member, please be sure to take a moment to locate your crate when you arrive at the CSA pick-up at Project SHARE. This year, we have transitioned from boxes to reusable plastic crates that are lined with plastic bags. Please leave the crate at SHARE and take only the plastic bag.

Based on the preferences that you list with Harvie, each week we will pack your crate and label it accordingly. If, for some reason you do not complete your Harvie customization preferences, the farm will do its best to pack a share that meets your needs. That said, please set your preferences!

Project SHARE has been a wonderful partner with DCF and our CSA. In order to maintain great rapport with SHARE, please help us keep the pick-up area tidy. Each Friday, a DCF staff member will be on hand at pick-up from 4:30pm until 6:30pm. If you have any questions about the farm or your CSA share, please do not hesitate to ask. If a farm representative is not at pick-up and a concern arises, please call farm staff member, Jenn Halpin at 717-713-0275.  We want to make sure your experience goes well and smoothly!

That is it for now! Thanks, again for joining our farm CSA program. We are delighted to have you as a member and look forward to sharing the bounties with you this year!
