Field Notes for May 21, 2019

Posted on May 17th, 2019 by Jenn Halpin

Hello Members!

We are excited to start off the CSA season with you and look forward to crossing paths over the course of the growing season. This spring has been kind to us and with the help of our new Vegetable Production Manager, Will Nelson our greenhouses are packed to the gills! For a glimpse of what vegetables to expect this week at pick-up please refer to the list below. Weekly “Happenings” emails will always include a veggie list, along with recipes that we hope will aid you in making full use of vegetables harvested at the Dickinson College Farm.

As a reminder or update, the Tuesday pick up is structured just like last year - free choice-style. This means that you just need to show up on Tuesday and pick up your veggies. If you need to change a pick up date, please use Harvie to do this. This way, all adjustments are made through Harvie for maximum efficiency on our end.

Last week we welcomed the bulk of our summer student crew and this week more will join us along with our 2019 farm apprentices. We are grateful for the young and passionate individuals who have signed on to work, learn, and thrive alongside us here at the College Farm.

We have a great team taking shape and I am sure that you will have the chance to interact with them during your pick-up, at farm events, and even farmers’ market. As a Tuesday CSA member, please be sure to take note of the giant blackboard situated in the lower barn. Each week our Packing House Coordinator, Jenn Wolf will populate it with helpful information to help guide you through pick-up. Jenn is also almost always in the lower barn on Tuesdays so please feel free to ask her questions, make suggestions, even share recipes that we can share with our membership.

That is it for now! Thanks, again for joining our farm CSA program. We are delighted to have you as a member and look forward to sharing the bounties with you this year!
