Hello CSA members,
Sweet corn is back! And cherry tomatoes too - a true summer harvest! I'm hopeful we will add melons to the mix next week. We are also excited to offer green bell peppers and jalapeños. More hot and sweet peppers will arrive in the coming weeks.
I know it can be tough to stay on top of the plethora of summer veggies in CSA shares this time of year. To make it easier, my wife and I have a processing event whenever we bring a load of veggies into the house. Rather than just tuck everything in the fridge as is, we lay it all out on the counter and start chopping/rinsing. Mornings and dinner times are usually hectic with hungry pets and kids. It's so much easier to dump out a bunch of pre-chopped squash into the pan than have to cut it in the moment. It's also nice to just grab a handful of cucumber or carrot sticks for kids lunches than bringing out the cutting board each day. It usually takes us about an hour each week, but that saves us much more time than if we did a little every day!
