Farm Happenings for June 22, 2021

Posted on June 18th, 2021 by Will Nelson

Hi! I’m Riley, one of the student workers at the farm. This summer is my first time working here, and I still can’t stop admiring the stunning mountain views throughout the workday. The weather cooled down this week, and the cool breezes and lively conversation have made the hours of harvesting, planting, and weeding fly by. We’ve been busy harvesting garlic scapes, beets, carrots, sugar snap peas, and other veggies for market and CSA. After spending the last couple of weeks weeding carrots in the field, we were all excited to harvest the first couple bundles of the season. While harvesting garlic scapes, I learned about the different ways to cook with them. I’m hoping to find some time to make garlic scape pesto soon! I also had the opportunity to work at the farmer’s market with two of the farm’s apprentices Harmony and Espoir this week. Our sugar snap peas, strawberries, and carrots were super popular! Overall, it was wonderful meeting the farmers market regulars, new customers, and working with the lovely crew at the farm.

Let me know if you need anything else!

Sincerely,

Riley Kuehn
