Farm Happenings for May 25, 2020

Posted on May 21st, 2020 by Will Nelson
Our summer student helpers and 2020 apprentices are trickling in. By the start of June, we will be fully staffed-perfect timing for when the season will truly start to ramp up. Our newest farm recruits spent much of this week transplanting crops - everything from lettuce and scallions to sweet potatoes. We look forward to sharing the harvests with you in the coming weeks and months!

Despite the autumnal weather this week the strawberries are starting, slowly but surely to ripen. Like many of you, I can't wait for strawberry season! Other springtime favorites include our salad turnips. These little white orbs are so incredibly delicious! If you have not already, I encourage you to give them a try.

Recognizing the many kinks that we are ironing out this season, we are grateful for your patience and understanding as we learn to streamline the CSA curbside pick up and home deliveries. If you have feedback or suggestions, even praise we welcome your input. Likewise, if you are having difficulty navigating Harvie and your weekly option to customize your CSA share, please let us know! A quick email inquiry to farm@dickinson.edu is time worth spent!

We look forward to providing you with freshly harvested crops from our fields, as well as sharing updates from the farm each week. 2020 has proven an epic year so far and here's to an even more epic CSA season!

Wishing you and yours all the very best,
jenn
