CSA Deliveries on Schedule! Curbside pick up of eggs now available.

Posted on March 21st, 2020 by Carrie Juchau

Dear Farm Share Members,

Happy First Day of Spring!

I’m sure you are as overwhelmed as I with the continuously changing situation surrounding the COVID-19 illness. I thought, however, I would shed some positive light into your day as today brings the first day of spring!

Gardening is one of the healthiest activities you can do right now.  Inhaling fresh, cool air and soaking in the Vitamin D from our sun while getting some physical exercise.  It’s also wonderful therapy if you are experiencing anxiety at this time.  I am already enjoying identifying the spring birds as they build their nests and listening to the crickets and frogs in the evening.

I’m very thankful that so far, the Coronovirus has not impacted my farm business.  The snow and sugar snap peas are coming up in the field and the asparagus and rhubarb crowns have been planted. Since the farmstand doesn’t normally open to the public until April, there hasn’t been any disruption to business nor any exposure to illness. The months of February and March primarily revolve around preparing the soil for planting and germinating thousands of seeds for transplanting.  To date, all those activities are on schedule to deliver for this year’s CSA.

I am offering curbside pickup of organic eggs (at the farm gate), and may have some more baby kale this week if you are interested.  You can call or text me to arrange pick up as it works into your schedule. I am currently selling out daily so let me know ahead of time so I may fill orders as they come in.
·         Lg. Eggs:  $4.50/dozen (soy-free, free range, organic)
·         XL/Jumbo Eggs:  $5.00/dozen (soy-free, free range, organic)
·         Baby Kale: 1 gallon bag $3.50

I have, however, cancelled my Berry Birthday Bash which was scheduled for April 5th.   If you would like to help plant strawberries in April, and you are healthy, please let me know. I have 1,000 berry plants arriving the week of March 30th and there is much to do!

You can also stop by to see our new chicks which are now 6 weeks old and growing quickly.

Stay well and know I am working hard to provide a healthy, local, organic food source to your home.

Blessings,
Carrie
