2021 CSA Week 19

D&V Organics CSA

Week 19

After last week's crazy weather it's looking like we finally hit the end of this year's tomato crop.  When we get excessive rain, the plants quickly develop disease problems, defoliating rapidly.  Additionally, the fruit suffers severely from the rain in the form of soft spots and cracks, rendering them beyond use.  It has become too time consuming to pick through the plants to find what is good given the excesses of split fruit.  The good news is that we are ready to start picking baby bok choi and komatsuna this week.  Both are in the cabbage family, high in nutrients and great to incorporate into a stir fry or steam and dress with a little bit of soy sauce and sesame oil.  We'll also be picking a smaller amount of lettuce this week with the anticipation of more greens coming over the next several weeks.

Enjoy,

Derek & Vicky
