2021 D&V Organics CSA Week 20

D&V Organics CSA

Week 20

We are happy to be getting back into the greens harvesting this week.  It seems like such a long stretch over the summer months (when it's too hot to grow greens) without greens, they are a welcome addition back into our weekly harvests and diets.  This week we've been busy preparing fields for planting and getting a lot of great things planted out into the fields.  We have a long road of cleanup ahead of us now that most of our summer crops are finished.  Over the next couple weeks, we'll be cutting down our tomato crop, picking up the string that was used to support the plants, removing the stakes that helped hold up the plants, mow off the plants and remove the plastic mulch, which helped to suppress weeds.  For a crop like tomatoes, a good portion of work comes at the end of the crop's lifespan.  Tomatoes are always a daunting management task for us from seeding to cleanup, but we will be happy when the field is cleaned up and ready for next year.

Enjoy,

Derek & Vicky
