Week 18
We hope everyone made out okay with last week's powerful storm that came through the area. On the farm, we didn't experience the devastating winds that some of you might have, however we did receive a significant amount of rain, enough to slow down our harvesting operations a bit. Our tomato crop got hit pretty hard, and is starting to deteriorate rapidly in the field with a lot of split tomatoes, making harvesting a bit more challenging. It's tough to say what impact the rain will have on the crops in the longer term, it typically takes a week or two for diseases to start showing up, but we will see. We are still in the process of planting more things for the coming months. Our fall greens are coming along, but still aren't quite ready yet...we are getting excited though.
