Harvesting some beautiful peppers and tomatoes right now, even with the everyday rain storms we have been working around. I can't remember a summer with this many consistent and heavy rains, although I am sure its happened before! I am on the BLT sandwich train right now, having them 3 nights this week already! I also did some stuffed bell peppers that came out great, using lean ground meat mixed with some green onion pork sausage. Our squash and cucumber harvests have been limited with the rain but hoping the new plots start coming on soon. We will planting pumpkins and winter squash soon, being that they take anywhere from 100 to 120 days! It's hot out there but we are pushing through and staying hydrated, you all do the same!

About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
