Well we dodged our first storm and made it basically unscathed. The dry weather has been nice and cloud cover has kept our crops somewhat cooler than normal! Believe it or not we have started some Fall season prep, laying new plastic and cleaning up older plots, it will be here before you know it so we try to stay prepared. We are picking plenty of tomatoes(finally), peppers, and eggplant. My wife made an heirloom tomato pie for Fathers Day and it was dynamite, she got the recipe from one of Emeril's cookbooks, you can google it to find. We also made BLT's with some of our creole tomatoes and the applewood smoked bacon, talk about good! Hoping the forecasted rain holds off for us this week.

About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
