Hi Everyone!

For some of you, this might be your first time experiencing our chicken, so here is some information about our broiler chickens.

  • We raise them from day olds, and then keep them in a brooder for 1 month.
  • When they are ready, we move them outside into "chicken tractors", which are shelters that protect the birds but have an open bottom so the birds can graze.
  • We like grazing our poultry on pasture so that they can feed on bugs, grass, and so that they can dust bath.

FUN FACTS ABOUT POULTRY

When you hear the terms "raised with no hormones" or "Antibiotic free". This is a marketing scam.

  • Raising poultry with growth hormones was banned in Canada in 1963.
  • Chickens are raised with antibiotics. They receive some as day olds that prevent them from catching serious diseases like coccidiosis.
  • Antibiotics are prescribed by veterinarians, and farmers have to follow prescription rules and withdrawal times.
  • Ontario poultry processers will not take poultry that have antibiotics in there system. There is a inspector at every processor that enforces these rules.

We are apart of the "Artisanal Chicken Growers of Ontario". This means that we are certified to raise premium chicken, and we are constantly monitored by Chicken Farmers of Ontario.
