Farm Happenings for August 20, 2020

Posted on August 17th, 2020 by Chris DeVries

Ok, this week we have a plenty of tomatoes!  If you are looking for flats of ripe tomatoes to make soup or sauce or just to have some to save for winter, we have some for you this week.  A "flat" holds about 3 times as much as our 2L basket.  The roma tomatoes are starting to come on too, so if you want a 1/2 bushel of those we have a signup list.

The way it works is that you fill out this form:

https://forms.gle/HyHNmJcDEu836JX1A

Please put your name as it is in our Harvie system.  I will then fill out the requests in order and add the charge to your Harvie order for that week.  I will send out the order list along with our pickup / delivery summary for the week so you can check that it is correct.

We are also bringing in some broccoli from Pfennings this week.  They are medium sized heads or bunches grown by Pfennings in Baden.  Our own broccoli and romanesco cauliflower plantings are looking very good, but are probably at least 2 weeks from ready.  If you are coming for farm pickup, keep an eye on the field to the right as you come down the driveway and you'll see the progress of all our late summer and fall brassicas (kohlrabi, cabbage, napa, kale, etc.)
