Farm Happenings for June 11, 2020

Posted on June 5th, 2020 by Chris DeVries

Tomato trellising seems like a continuous task this time of year on the farm.  We have moved on to trellising our hoophouse tomatoes and will soon be doing outside tomatoes as well.  The harvest of tomatoes will increase steadily from now until late July when we will have a very large amount of many different kinds!

A couple notes for this week:

  • Delivery will now be Friday or Saturday due to an increased number of orders and shares as we cannot fit them all into one day.  If you are ordering bread note that it is all baked on Thursday and although we have found that the loaves are still very good on Saturday you should consider this especially if you order baguettes or croissants for delivery.
  • For now we will be holding off on the Wildflowers Farm market pickup as it was a bit crazy last week to get in before 5:30.  In the future we will likely have to extend our pickup to Fridays at the farm too as we are running out of space in the pickup area.

We are happy to report we have a lot of 2020 carrots this week from our super early plantings in the hoophouse!  Next week we are hoping for many more new crops including zucchini and broccoli and maybe some early summer cabbage.

As always, any questions or problems with your orders please email us at support@commongroundfarm.ca
