Just 2 more weeks left of Winter CSA!

Posted on February 19th, 2020 by Lisa Merva

Welcome to Week 7!

This is our second to last week of the Winter CSA season-- you'll pick up your last share the week of March 6. This season has kept us busy!

I checked in with all our farms earlier this week, and the word is that everyone is running low on food. We'll make it through this CSA season, but then we'll need a break to let everything grow and therefore will need to cancel the Mini March season. Winter production can vary wildly depending on the growing conditions, and this wet weather interfered with a lot of seeding and planting. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I am pleased to let you know that we will be in good shape for our Spring/Summer CSA season, which starts the week of April 13 (signup available soon). I will offer auto-renewal to Winter members-- more details to come!

New Products Alert!

We are stocking several new artisan products:

Emily G's Jams, Dunwoody-- Their mission is simple: “We do everything for the love  eg-red-heart.png of food. We believe that what we eat should be prepared simply and naturally with the best ingredients available.” Crafted from seasonal and locally harvested ingredients, Emily G’s Jam of Love is guaranteed to satisfy any jam lover.

Doux South Pickles, Atlanta-- This is a creation of Atlanta farm-to-table chef, Nick Melvin. His goal with Doux South was to educate folks about the great Southern tradition of pickling and all the ways that pickles could be used by the chef at home.

Georgia Olive Farms Olive Oil, Lakeland-- Extra Virgin Olive Oil that is actually grown and made in Georgia! This oil is collected from only the first pressing of our fruit, and goes from field to their own mill in less than 24 hours. Renowned chefs are snapping it up, and Esquire Magazine said it's "smooth and ticks the back of your throat with a faint peppery kick, the way it should.”

Independent Baking Co Bread Share - Multigrain

A moist, hearty loaf that has the potential to turn your snack into a meal. Made with stone-ground heirloom whole wheat flour, spelt flour, rye flour, oats, millet, quinoa, flax and sunflower seeds.

Local Partner Spotlight - W & A Engineering

One of those is W&A Engineering, a multidisciplinary engineering firm that is committed to sustainable growth and good corporate citizenship. As part of that commitment, W&A has partnered with Collective Harvest since 2018 to offer employees workplace delivery of fresh, local produce. In doing so, they promote healthy habits for their employees, encourage sustainable farming practices, and contribute to the local economy.

W&A recently moved their office to the historic Southern Mill development off Chase Street. They are holding an open house this Thursday, February 20 from 4-7 pm and YOU are invited! Please join for a tour of their new Earth Craft Certified office and to learn more about this awesome local partner.
