Welcome to Week 11!

This Spring/Summer CSA season ends the week of July 20th, and lots of you are probably wondering "What's next?"... I wish I could tell you! This has been a wild year at Collective Harvest-- full of change and surprise. We are happy to be serving more customers and helping to support more farms and vendors than ever before-- and we want to keep this rolling! We are working on our plans for the rest of the year, and will be able to tell you "what's next" very soon. Stay tuned! CSA members will be the first to know what the future holds.

Independent Baking Co. will be taking the week of June 29-July 4 off, so we'll need to credit Bread Share members for that week since we won't have any bread. I recommend you stock up this week. When I take a loaf home, I like to slice it immediately and put the slices in a freezer bag... then I pull out a slice whenever I want and enjoy fresh, delicious bread.

Produce Update

Blueberry season is officially here! This week we have sustainably grown blueberries from 3 Athens-area farms-- McBride Family Farm in Winterville, Buffalo Creek Berry Farm in Lexington AND our member farm, Fry Farm in Bethlehem. There should be enough to go around! If you are looking to buy in bulk or pick your own, Buffalo Creek offers online ordering and U-pick, and I highly recommend taking a trip out to their beautiful farm. This year, reservations are required-- you can find more information on their website

New Vendors Alert!

Are you ready for some Georgia pecans? This week we are offering lovely half pecans from New Ground Orchards in Hancock County, with 3 package sizes to choose from. Pecans are high in antioxidants, rich in vitamins and minerals, and are a good source of fiber-- learn more about pecans and the folks at New Ground on their website here.

The entrepreneurial spirit in and around Athens is amazing and this week we are introducing another new-to-us business-- Mesca Sweet, located in Bishop. Founders Phoebe and Clayton had numerous friends and family members who struggled with eating too much sugar and were feeling the negative effects. To help folks avoid to much sugar and artificial ingredients, they innovated a natural sweetener blend called Mesca Sweet. MESCA stands for: Mesca Erythritol Stevia Calorie-free Alternative.

We are offering a few varieties of Mesca drinks (sparkling and still), as well as baked goods from Mesca's sister company, Saturday Hill Sugar-Free Baking Company. Check 'em out! Who knew sugar-free could be so tasty?

Without further ado... let's eat!
