Peach Time!

Posted on June 19th, 2019 by Lisa Merva

Woo hoo! Peaches are here! They will only be available for a limited time so be sure to get 'em while they're hot.

These fuzzy beauties come from Watsonia Farms in Moneta, SC. The Watson family has been growing produce for over 100 years. They operated as a conventional grower for years, but transitioned to organic growing in 2005. As you may know, at Collective Harvest we source nearly all of the produce in your shares from our 7 member farms (bonus points if you can name all 7!). Occasionally, though, I reach out to other farms in the area if there is a highly desirable item that our farms don't grow... like peaches! We are so glad to have localish, organically grown peaches to offer you.

Those of you with an Independent Baking Co. Bread Share will be getting...

PECAN RAISIN

Thompson raisins and Georgia Pecans in a dough made with a mix of whole grain flours. Made with house-milled heirloom whole wheat flour.

This is a lovely, not-too-sweet loaf that is actually quite versatile. It's great for a chicken salad sandwich! That being said, if you really would rather have a substitute, please email me by Thursday afternoon for a list of options.

Did you know that we have a little variety of local beef and chicken products at our headquarters on W. Broad? It's not available to order through Harvie, but we can accept cash, check or card at our headquarters. If you pick up your share elsewhere, you are invited to stop in during the week (best times are Tuesday through Thursday from 1-6). Currently we are stocking Falling Creek lifetime grass-fed beef: ground beef, roasts, sirloin, and New York Strip steaks. We also just received some Caribe United Farm organic, pastured chicken. We have whole chickens, whole cockerels (roosters... great for stews and soups) and boneless chicken breasts. Email me if you would like more info.

Let's eat!
