Farm Happenings for November 17, 2021

Posted on November 11th, 2021 by Mike Finger

The customization period for this week's harvest ends Monday night at 10:30 p.m.

Delivery Thanksgiving week will be on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 23RD., and will be available for pickup through Friday the 25th

Thanks to unlucky timing with our irrigation and the extreme heat event of early summer, our first sowing of  Parsnips failed and our follow up sowing went in late, resulting in a reduced yield (nice quality though). Fortunately this is a crop we can usually purchase from other local farms, so we expect to have parsnips enough for your boxes for the remaining weeks of the season. Cedarville's parsnips are about the size of large carrots, and thus perfect for roasting whole.  We'll include them in our crop lineup for at least the next few weeks, after which we expect we'll use roots from other local organic farms.

Boxes: Thank you for taking the time to return your boxes to your pickup sites.  Of late we are noticing more boxes returned in their fully open state ~ Not Good!  PLEASE take the time to fold your boxes flat before returning them to your pickup site.  Boxes left unfolded can easily be blown into nearby yards and streets and create more work and worry for our site hosts. When folding down, please take care to collapse the bottom flaps (scissor like) by pushing up against their folded seams and not by ripping or tearing them.  Thank You So Much!

Yikes ~ heavy rains and flood warnings for the next few days. Thoughts sent our way of sunny breaks and dry socks much appreciated!

We hope you enjoy this week's harvest.

Yours,

Mike, Kim, and Crew
