Farm Happenings for August 26, 2020

Posted on August 23rd, 2020 by Mike Finger

Tomatoes seem the very spirit of the high summer harvest. We eat them at every meal, and often in between (Mike will put down a couple pint of cherry toms as he makes his delivery runs.) The farm is productive of many other crops now too, keeping our 5 person crew focused on digging, cutting, bunching, washing, and packing with never enough time for weeding or other tasks.  We are focusing when we can on putting in the last of the fall crops and cleaning up from the first  harvests.  This week, we will harvest the onions and shallots and give the leeks one last good weeding. Sweet corn is nearly ready and should be available for next week's (September 2nd) boxes. We hope you have been enjoying the harvest and using the customizing feature of Harvie to swap and amend your harvest. We've added a few new items to the "extras" offerings that you can purchase separately to go along w/ your regular share. Thank you for your membership.  ~ Mike, Kim, and Crew
