Farm Happenings for August 19, 2020

Posted on August 13th, 2020 by Mike Finger

Our pole beans, both the green Blue Lake types and the green and yellow Romanos, began producing last week and we are expecting a substantial harvest from them this coming week, especially after they get a push from the current heat wave. So, many of you who've indicated a fondness for beans will be receiving a nice bag of them.  The tomatoes too are coming in heavy now as well, cherries, saladettes (a sort of jumbo cherry), and slicing tomatoes so we hope to have a good quantity available for those who enjoy these classic summer fruits.  We are eating tomatoes with every meal and have already polished off a jar of mayonnaise (what is it about tomatoes and this "dressing"?) It's the peak of what Kim likes to call the "Glorious Season" when there is so much variety and abundance in the garden.  We hope you've enjoyed the harvests of late.  There is more yet we'd like to share with you.
