While Enjoying Summer, Fall is Growing

Posted on August 8th, 2019 by Janet Aardema

It's hot and humid and the vegetables are dense right now - there's not many leafy greens that like to stay alive in this weather. But in the ground are the delights of fall. Cabbage, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Kale, and more are growing right now. It can be a challenge to keep them alive during the heat of August, but it works well enough to get these fall vegetables to harvest once the weather is cooler.

For now, keep enjoying these sweet vegetables full of seeds. Summer Squash and Cucumbers have returned for a while! Grilling squash and making interesting Salads are quintessential summer for us. Our beans are in! We have two types this year - LONG beans and regular. Peppers and Tomatoes are so good right now. Remember you can roast and freeze them both and enjoy them later. Our onions and garlic make everything better, so saute them up to add flavor and nutrition.

Enjoy your options this week!
