Full Moon Feast

Posted on September 10th, 2022 by Danielle Boerson

I love watching the moon.  It's phases, like a good mentor, offer me direction.  Every month it's face gets bright and full, bringing with it an opportunity to receive fresh inspiration and new ideas.  When the moon waxes full I stop in my tracks to take it in, to open myself fully to all that is possible, and to just Be.

This month we are experiencing the Harvest Moon, which has been casting its reflective glow over the field where our fruits and vegetables are growing.  I imagine that the plants are also inspired as they develop their fruits and leaves and seeds, bathed in the moons magical night time light. If the moon makes the crops as happy as it makes me, then the corn and the beans and the salad will taste extra delicious.  Happy food.

This weeks harvest definitely reflects the time of year when crops are abundant.  While we continue to harvest successions of mixed greens, carrots, beets and scallions, we are now adding in some newcomers such as arugula, radishes, celery and corn.  There is so much to choose from!  It is an excellent time to put food up (salsa), grill out (corn on the cob), or set up a soup and salad bar with friends.  There's no time like the present for a Full Moon-inspired Feast!
