The Faces Behind the Food: Travis

Posted on July 15th, 2021 by Danielle Boerson

Summer on the vegetable farm is all about keeping up the rhythm.  The landscape changes every single day, and we farmers find ourselves literally running from crop to crop to keep up the pace.  It's already the middle of July, which means we've made it to the halfway point in the season.  There's no time to slow down yet...that's what winter is for!

We are managing to keep up the rhythm here in the present moment thanks to a steadfast crew.  The farm has 4 employees and 10 volunteers who all contribute in important ways.  Our main man Travis has been keeping pace with us for 8 seasons now, and this year his efforts are going the distance to help us provide you with beautiful heat loving crops from our hoop houses, such as cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers.  If you've been to the farm recently, you may have noticed the towering vines that are turning the covered space into a cultivated forest of leaves and fruits.  All this management takes time, and we couldn't stay on top of the constantly changing conditions if it weren't for hard core crew members like Travis.

Btw, if are looking for an earth-friendly and stylish way to haul your veggies home, consider getting one of our BF logo canvas totes.  They are hot off the press and available as extras while supplies last.

Enjoy the flavors, colors and textures coming your way this week.  Cheers!
