Hello Members!

The nights seem to be cooling off and we can feel it in the morning harvests and the dew is heavier.  You will notice a little shift in items in the box this week with the greens and a pie pumpkin!  That means you get to turn your oven on and make a pie!  They are also pretty, but they are sweet for eating and baking.

This is a pretty crazy time of year for us, and so many, as school is starting ( and both kids are going this time!), Its Ronias birthday on Tuesday, the first day of school!, and harvest is still going strong! And some years we make it to the State Fair, but not with the baby this year! We hope everyone who goes to the fair has a great, safe time and eats something fried for us!

We have canners for SALE!  They are not really even going to be 2nds, we just have a ton (well more than that) of tomatoes!  $40 for a half bushel (25#). Find them in the extras when you go to customize your share.

If you are interested in our Pastured Meats, you can read about our practices and what we have to offer HERE

Here is what may be in your box this week: (will update wednesday with info and recipes)

Tomatoes, heirloom and slicers- The tomatoes are peaking this week and we will very quickly see a heavy decline in harvest with the cool, dewy nights and mornings.  Enjoy while they last!

Cherry Tomatoes- We will continue to harvest these for several weeks, as they are in the high tunnel and not as affected by cooler weather. do not refrigerate.

Ground Cherries-Not everyone is a big fan, but those who are seem to love them!  My kids love them.  eat right out of the husk or cook down for a sauce.

Ground Cherry Salsa

Cilantro- At long last!  At least for the salsa makers out there, I hope this makes you happy!

Pico De Gallo

Cilantro Vinaigrette

Onions- Great with the pico or of course with any stir fry or fried up with the peppers.

Sweet Corn- Last time!!!- Its been a good run for the corn this year.  The last 3 weeks we have seen record harvests with some nice big well formed cobs.  Hope you enjoyed some nice corn feasts!

How to freeze corn 3 ways

Carmen sweet italian Peppers- Our peppers are not that amazing this year, not sure why. At least our carmens are coming in and everyone gets a couple nice ones this week.  These are so sweet.  They are great just sliced up and eaten or used in a salsa or stir fry.  Keeps well in the fridge, too.

Sauteed Onions and Peppers

Melon- either watermelon or cantaloupe- Our last week for melons.  Our cantaloupe did not produce like the watermelons, unlike last year, where we has mainly cantaloupe. Who knows!  Enjoy now, as these should all be ripe, or at least cube up and put in the fridge in a container so they keep better.

Pie Pumpkin- A pie pumpkin to mark the start of school, the end of summer, the turning to fall, the phenology of the seasons.

easy Pumpkin puree from scratch

Pumpkin Chocolate chip muffins

Spicy Mix- greens are back!  These will be zesty, a bit big, but with a little chop they will make a very nice and tender salad!

Red Radishes- A little big, but stil crunchy and crisp!  Add to a fresh salad, a salsa or slice onto buttered toast with a little salt and maybe some cilantro

Snap Bean Mix- Green Beans with Vinaigrette

Sweet Corn Harvest!!

Honey bee on the buckwheat. We have 4 acres planted!
