Week 4: New Apples & Pear! & Jam Sale

Posted on October 14th, 2019 by Agriberry Farm

The pointy pears in the share this week are Bosc. Leave these outside of the fridge to mellow. They don't get quite as yellow as other traditional pears, and their sweetness can be enjoyed before fully soft. "Check the neck" for some give, and near the stem for wrinkles to determine readiness. Fuji and Stayman are your apples this week. Fuji are a widely popular sweet apple with lopsided shape. Stayman are a heritage variety descended from Winesap apples, sweet-tart with firm flesh and thick skin, excellent storage life - remember to keep your apples in the fridge! Other apples available to swap in are Honeycrisp and Pink Lady, and some more available as extras. Raspberries are still in the share! Plums, kiwis, cider and other extras available as well. If you have Harvie credits please use them by adding some extras to your share this week or the next two weeks - credits must be used the end of this season, they do not roll over to next season or convert to cash at market, they must be used on Harvie this month.

We are launching our end of season Jam Sale! This operates separately from Harvie, ON THIS PAGE you can order a discounted case of jams to pickup on the final week of the Fall CSA (the last week of October).
